Foilayage and Color Melting
Theory Series Part 2: Blend Live Model Demonstration
The number one question I get is: "What is a Base Break and a Shadow Tone?". These two Color Melting techniques create the perfect graduation of color or fade from dark to light from roots to ends to blend Foilayage and Balayage.
This video shows a Foilayage application on a live model to achieve 4 to 5 levels of lift while mimicking the natural look of Balayage. Once the foil work is complete the Foilayage must be blended into the natural root. Base Breaking and Shadow toning are the two techniques that achieve this blend.
The common issues with Base Breaking are creating too much exposure of warmth and "hot roots". This video shows with formulation and application how to avoid these mistakes and still create lift in the natural base color in between highlights.
The common issues with Shadow Toning are not understanding the importance of applying this technique and improper formulation leading to a muddy root. This video shows with formulation and application how to create the perfect melt and shine.
So much helpful information, I can’t wait for the next video!
